My journey began with an unanticipated moment on October 4, 2024, when my father passed away. Sixteen years ago, he bought a 23-acre farm where I spent countless weekends assisting with various tasks. From using push mowers and zero turns to driving the tractor, I was there ready to help, especially when it came to physical tasks like changing implements.
Last year before he passed, my father often voiced his struggles with disconnecting the PTO drive shafts due to declining hand strength, making it tough to manage the latching pin and drive shaft simultaneously.
In mid-October, as I started to organize the farm, I found the tractor in the shop with a brush hog attached. The tractor wouldn’t start, and as we awaited repairs, I needed to disconnect the brush hog. Despite my best efforts to squeeze the pin and pull the drive shaft, it wouldn’t budge. Frustrated, I resorted to Google for solutions, echoing my father’s sentiment, ‘Why is this so hard? and There has to be a tool for this.’ Using a rod, I managed to release the pin and remove the brush hog. This experience sparked my determination to either find or create a tool to simplify this task, and Tractor Tool 4 You was born.
My father was the third in our family to hold a patent, and one of his dreams was for one of his children to achieve the same. I hope this endeavor makes him proud. This is for you, Dad
